VisionWall system requirements

Ventura 13.3 is a hard floor, not a recommendation: VisionWall will not launch at all on macOS 12 Monterey or older, or on Ventura before 13.3, and there is no build that will. Apple menu → About This Mac tells you which version you are on before you buy.

Yes, and a board that is not shows up as a “Board not found” error rather than an empty wallpaper, VisionWall gets nothing back from Pinterest’s public widget API and cannot tell a private board from a mistyped URL. A group board is an ordinary board whose owner invited collaborators, so a public group board is readable exactly like any other public board; only a private group board is blocked.

Switching it back later does not break the desktop: the wallpaper already on screen stays put, because it is composed from images already downloaded to your Mac, and later refreshes simply stop finding new pins.

Two destinations, and no others: Pinterest’s CDN, for the pin images themselves, and a single static version.json file on visionwall.io that the app checks at most once a day for updates. There is no account, no analytics, no telemetry and no VisionWall server in between, your board URL and settings stay in the local app container on your Mac. That is the whole list, which matters if you are behind a restrictive firewall or a managed work profile.

Nothing about it is required at startup. Offline, VisionWall skips each refresh silently and resumes on the next interval once you are back online, and the wallpaper is restored from the local file after a reboot.

A dense wallpaper can swallow the labels under your desktop icons, so VisionWall gives you the layout controls to thin the composition out. Reduce the number of columns for fewer, larger tiles. Increase the margins and the gutter to leave more background showing between them. Set a darker background color so light icon labels keep their contrast.

Tiles can be rendered as rounded rectangles or as circles, and the corner radius is adjustable. All of these settings live behind the ▣ menu bar icon, under Settings, and take effect on the next composition.
